OBJECTIVES
This seminar encourages students to engage critically and creatively with a wide selection of work by British, American and
Commonwealth poets, including:
William Carlos Williams, Louis Zukofsky, Ezra Pound, T.S. Eliot, W.H. Auden, Charles Olson, Robert Creeley, J.H. Prynne,
Ginsberg, Snyder, Gregory Corso, Sylvia Plath, William Bronk, Denise Levertov, Frank O´Hara, Kenneth Koch, John
Ashbery, James Dickey, Ed Dorn, Michael Dransfield, Barbara Guest, John Tranter, Jack Spicer, John Wieners, Lyn
Hejinian, Anne Waldman, Charles Bernstein, Clark Coolidge, John Kinsella, and others.
ASSESSMENT
Assessment will take the form of in-class presentations and an extended piece of critical writing.
