• Students are expected to actively participate during the course and seminar
• Students are expected to prepare written assignments on ancient Egypt and the ancient Near East
• The assignments have to be handed in (word doc via email) at the required time
• The assignments need to be presented by the student during the course 2. Úvod do studia: Zkouška
• Students will only be allowed to participate in the exam AFTER having received the credit for the seminar
• The exam will take place on two/three days following the first semester (11.01. – 14.02.2021) and once during the following exam terms
• Students are expected to be able to locate any site mentioned during the course on a blind map of Egypt and the Near East
• Students have to prepare a 3-4 page paper on a specific allocated topic (combining information from Egypt and the ancient Near East) that has to be handed in a few days (to be specified) prior to the exam (word doc via email)
COURSE SUMMARY
Cílem této přednášky je poskytnout studentům základní uvedení do studia a problematiky oblasti Předního východu a Egypta ve starověku. Studenti budou postupně seznamováni se základními vědeckými postupy, referenčními příručkami příslušných oborů (včetně bibliografií, slovníků, časopisů, publikačních řad, apod.), dějinami oborů, základní literaturou k dějinám, jazykům a vývoji společnosti. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována topografii a přírodnímu bohatství Egypta a Předního východu a otázkám spojeným s chronologickým členěním pojednávaného úseku dějin a historiografií.
Studenti budou procvičovat znalosti získané v kurzu, osvojí si podrobněji četné nástroje, jež se využívají při studiu a výzkumu egyptologických a předovýchodních témat, včetně referenčních příruček (encyklopedie, lexika, slovníky, onomastika), online databáze a knihovní zdroje. Studenti budou v semináři samostatně i ve skupinách pracovat, diskutovat a v praktické rovině procvičovat zásady vědecké práce, přípravy abstraktů a shrnutí, psaní prací a správný způsob citování odborné literatury a rovněž prezentování výsledků.
