The aim of this lecture is to introduce to students the history of the scientific discipline of Economic and Social
History (ESH) in American, English, French and German historiography as well as in the historiography of the
Czech Lands, namely from the 1750s to the year 2000. Its reference frame comprises the main development tendencies of its theories, conceptualizations, profiling personalities, important publications and institutions.
Exercises take place in the form of four block seminars. The content will be a discussion of the texts on the economic history of the 19th and 20th centuries. The aim of the course will be reading and subsequent analysis of important texts-documents that allow to study economic history in broader political, social and cultural contexts.
