Annotation
The seminar is focused on basic knowledge and skills in the field of modern palaeography in terms of research into the history of book culture. In individual lessons, students will be acquainted with the subject and methods of palaeography, history of the field, the development of handwriting in modern times and teaching writing, categorization of handwriting in modern times, the development of modern handwriting in Italy, France, England, Germany and the Czech Republic, as well as with used abbreviations, transcription rules, printing fonts and inscription and special fonts.
However, the main content of the course is to read samples of old handwriting from copies of period documents.
