Geoarchaeology-II course will provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the application of chemical analysis methods in archaeology. Students will learn about the principles, instrumentation, and applications of ICP-OES and -MS, AAS and XRF as well as sampling and sample preparation procedures. The interpretation of analytical results and the advantages and disadvantages of each technique will also be discussed.

The course will be delivered in a combination of lectures, laboratory exercises, and individual projects. Theoretical and discussion sessions will be followed by hands-on practical sessions where students will learn to use pXRF equipment to analyze a selected group of archaeological materials. Students will be expected to actively participate in class discussions, prepare review papers on selected publications, and complete a final research paper based on their practical work. The courses are scheduled for the following dates: February 22nd, March 7th, March 21st, April 11th, April 18th, and April 25th.
