The aim of this course is to focus on the archaeology of the Roman to the Late Antique period in Central Italy, mainly Etruria.
Through lectures and seminars, the students will be taught about rural sites, their relationships with the main urban centres and overall Roman economic systems and society. A major emphasis will be paid to actual archaeological investigations in South Tuscany.
In order to deliver a wider picture of Roman and Late Antique Archaeology in Central Italy in comparison with the
Mediterranean context, seminars will be provided to students. These will focus on specific topics and references will be given to the students. If articles/papers/volumes are not available in the libraries in Prague, pdf version will be given to students.
