Edition and interpretation of a medieval Aristotle commentary: Bartholomew of Bruges and his Commentary on the pseudo-aristotelian Economics
The course deals with the medieval commentary of the Parisian Master of Arts Bartholomew of Bruges on the pseudo-aristotelian Economics, a short ancient treatise on marriage and the household attributed in the Middle Ages to Aristotle. The commentary was written in 1309 and represents the main medieval explanation of this treatise. By using this commentary as an example, the course aims to give insight into the study and edition techniques of medieval Aristotle commentaries.
