Determinants of organizational culture formation. Identification of company values.
The role of the external environment, internal structure, type and dynamics of the organization, general and human resources management, and employees. Company culture in relation to the strategy and performance of the organization, and motivation of employees.
Analysis, diagnostics, and typology of organizational culture. Organizational ethics.
Codes of ethics and identification of pathological elements. Strong vs. weak, national vs. multinational/global company culture.
Role of internal communication. Selected issues of adaptation to a different national/organizational culture.
Development and changes of organizational culture. Strategies, tools, limitations, practical implementation, and consequences of changes of organizational culture.
The course will provide students with an overview of basic theoretical and empirical knowledge related organizational culture, and thus enable them to understand the broader context of formation, cultivation and change of company culture in the light of the contemporary knowledge, experiences and trends.
In addition to lectures, teaching will be based on discussions with students and will strengthen their ability to think critically. Emphasis will be placed on understanding model situations, their analysis and constructive proposals for solving problems associated with various aspects of organizational culture.
