Mircea Eliade: The Sacred and the Prophane - Phenomenology of Religion Seminar

Class at Faculty of Arts |
ARL100047

Annotation

In the seminar, two contrary and complementary notions will be analyzed, those of the sacred and the profane, as viewed by one of the most important representative of the modern phenomenology of religion Mircea Eliade. In this context, a special attention will be paid to the perspective of space (sacred place) and time (myth).

Two texts by M. Eliade will be studied, The Sacred and the Profane and The Myth of the Eternal Return; if necessary, other texts by the same author will taken into consideration.
