In this seminar possible pitfalls in the use of the term "religion", as well as its history and its efficacy will be discussed. The aim is that those attending can develop a sense for what the non-neutrality of language and concepts means and how it affects our studies and life. Since the course is constructed around acquiring metatheoretical - rather than empirical - knowledge, recourse will be taken to what students have learned in other courses, as well as in their non-academic lives. The course is primarily and preferentially aimed at undergraduate students of religion.
International students may gain an ECTS grade in this course.
