FIELD PRACTICE I B

Brief characteristics of the course:The course takes the form of sight visits to selected social work organizations and their subsequent reflections in the form of group colloquium and individual consultations. The aim is: 1. to introduce students to the practical aspects of social work and to broaden their awareness of various social work areas and target groups,2. to prepare students for the subsequent field placements in the second and third year of study so that these contribute to the fulfillment of educational objectives.

The colloquium allows first-year students to reflect on both their past and new experience in the field of social work. Students become familiar with the system of field education at the Dpt. of Social Work. Students learn how to elaborate reports from field placements and begin to build their very own professional portfolios.

Final examination:Students shall be evaluated based upon their attendance in sight visits and group colloquiums (max. 1 absence per semester). Students shall elaborate a report from each sight visit and deliver it within one week of the sight visit. The report shall become a part of student´s professional portfolio. At the end of the semester, students shall take an oral interview.
