Course content: The course consists of modules 1 – 5 of the textbook Embarque 3. Supplementary materials are provided from preparatory textbooks for certified exams, textbooks focusing on grammar or vocabulary, and original sources in Spanish.
Students will practice all four language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing.
Overview of grammatical and lexical units:
Grammar: use of past tenses (present tense, past simple tense, the imperfect, past perfect tense, present subjunctive), sequence of tenses, periphrastic forms, subordinate clauses of time, cause, effect, concession, reason, consequence, real and unreal conditions (in present and future tenses), means of textual coherence, absolute superlatives, comparative sentences, other uses of the verbs ser and estar.
Vocabulary: idiomatic expressions, extension of basic vocabulary conversational topics (family, work, living, eating, ecology, culture, television, literature and more).
Topics: Cultural diversity, family and family relationships, environment and sustainability, housing and urbanism, food and food waste, literature and the means of expression, Spanish customs and their contrast with other nations.
The course is designed for students with B1 knowledge of Spanish (see the annotation of the Spanish. Course I).
It focuses on development of basic language competences and academic skills to achieve the required level B1/B2.
The course is one-semester, 2x2 hours per week. (The attendance is obligatory both days).
The course consists of individual modules of the textbook Embarque 3, which are possibly supplemented by other study and exercise materials.
