The students practice their patient care skills under the supervision of a general nurse. They can take this course after the second year of the study. Requirement is the credit from the subject Basic nursing.
The practice lasts 3 weeks, it takes place on an inpatient unit of an internal medicine or surgical department (orthopedics, urology, neurology). Students work shifts, besides morning shift they also have to work 3 ? 6 evening shifts, 1 ? 3 night shifts and 1 Saturday or Sunday day shift. The work time is 40 hour per week including 30 minute lunch breaks. The students will write all the procedures they have practiced in a logbook.
