Lectures supplement or develop the material of compulsory literature. They capture current trends in the field, changes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, which are not yet included in the existing textbook. The lectures draw attention to the minimum knowledge of the field, which is a condition for successfully passing the exams in the summer semester.

In the practical exercises, the students get to know the neurological examination, which is performed first under the supervision of the teacher, then independently after being divided into several subgroups. Teachers demonstrate patients with typical cases of diseases of the nervous system. Students will also learn about syndromology and topical diagnostics in Neurology. Students are made aware of the minimum knowledge of the given topic, which is a condition for successfully passing the credit (and subsequently the exam in the summer semester).
Practical courses
Introduction to practical classes: textbook(s),final examination questions, credit requirements, overall content of practical classes, tools for neurologic examination, neurologic diagnostic process, medical history taking. Motility: four components of motion, upper and lower motor neuron, anatomy, physiology, pathology. Topical criterias. Reflexology: anatomy, physiology, methods of physical examination, pathology. Presentation of patients.
Cranial nerves I - XII: anatomy, physiology, methods of examination, pathology, presentation of patients.
Neck, upper limbs, abdomen: physical examination, presentation of patients. Lower limbs, posture, gait, vertebral column: methods of examination, demonstration of patients. Overall rewiew of physical examination.
Extrapyramidal system: anatomy, physiology, pathology. Cerebellum: anatomy, physiology, methods of physical examination, pathology, presentation of patients.Sensation: anatomy, physiology, methods of physical examination, pathology, demonstration of patients.
Rewiew of syndromes: meningeal syndromes, syndrome of intracranial hypertension, hemispheral syndromes, brain stem syndromes. Spinal cord syndromes. Demonstration of patients, physical examination.
Independent physical examination.
Overall review of medical record, independent physical examination, demonstration of patients.
Individual (independent) filling out of medical record (history, physical examination). Analysis of medical records. Credit.
Diagnostic procedures in neurology, syndromology and topical diagnostics: central and peripheral motoneuron, extrapyramidal system, cerebellum, cranial nerves (fundamentals of neurootology and neuroophthalmology), brainstem, diencephalon, spinal cord, plexuses, peripheral nerves, cortical disorders (brain lobe syndromes, disorders of symbolic function), states of unconsciousness, intracranial hypertension, cerebral edema, meningeal irritation.
