Class at Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové |
FG10038

Syllabus

Lecturers

Prof. Roman Herzig, M.D., Ph.D.

Assoc. Prof. Edvard Ehler, Ph. D.

Prof. Martin Vališ, M.D., Ph.D.

Assoc. Prof. Dagmar Krajíčková, Ph. D.

Lectures supplement or develop the material of compulsory literature. They capture current trends in the field, changes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, which are not yet included in the existing textbook. The lectures draw attention to the minimum knowledge of the field, which is a condition for successfully passing the exams in the summer semester.

Neurologic diagnostic process, syndromology. Localizing of lesions. Syndromology of the cranial nerves I-XII. Neuroophtalmology, neurootology. (Prof. Martin Vališ, M.D., Ph.D.- 3 h)

Upper and lower motor lesions. (Assoc. Prof. Edvard Ehler, Ph. D. - 2 h)

Cerebellar and extrapyramidal syndromes.(Prof. Roman Herig, M.D., Ph.D.- 1 h)

Spinal cord. Syndromology of the brain stem and thalamus disorders. (Prof. Roman Herig, M.D., Ph.D.- 3 h)

Aphasia and other localizing disorders of higher brain functions. (Assoc. Prof. Dagmar Krajíčková, Ph. D.- 2 h)

Intracranial hypertension, hydrocephalus. Meningeal irritation. Stupor, coma. (Assoc. Prof. Edvard Ehler, Ph. D. - 2 h)

In the practical exercises, the students get to know the neurological examination, which is performed first under the supervision of the teacher, then independently after being divided into several subgroups. Teachers demonstrate patients with typical cases of diseases of the nervous system. Students will also learn about syndromology and topical diagnostics in Neurology. Students are made aware of the minimum knowledge of the given topic, which is a condition for successfully passing the credit (and subsequently the exam in the summer semester).
