The course follows the subject called Professional Drug Information (formerly Pharmacoinformatics), which is now incorporated into the subject called Pharmaceutical Care I in the 4th year of the undergraduate study program of Pharmacy. Students get acquainted with the various professional information resources in the field of pharmacotherapy, learn critical appraisal about the information they find and learn how to systematically work with the most important databases containing information on medicines.
The aim of the course is to deepen their knowledge and skills in clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical care and EBM (evidence-based medicine) and their practical application in solution of drug-related enquiries within the Drug Information Centre (DIC) of Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove and Teaching Hospital in Hradec Kralove. During the course, specific drug-related problems are solved through literature review from bibliographic databases (e.g.
Pubmed, Medline, EMBASE, Web of Science), factographic databases (e.g. AISLP, Micromedex, UpToDate), full-text databases (e.g.
EBSCO, ProQuest Central) and further from the professional journals and monographs. Solving enquiries is always consulted with authorized LIC members and possibly discussed with other invited experts.
