Syllabus
1) Theoretical concepts of totalitarianism; critique. 2) Opportunities of opposition in totalitarian regime. 3) Political trials - the fabrication of opposition. 4) Hungary uprising of 1956; comparison with Czechoslovakia 1968. 5) Historical development of communist regimes ? the decline of totalitarian characteristics? 6) Charter 77, comparison with Solidarity movement in Poland. 7) Opposition and fall of communism in 1989.
Annotation
The course is held in the Czech language. The course is focused on the opposition in totalitarian, mainly in communist regimes, on opposition?s strategy and tactics, within the context of historical development of communist regimes.
