Anotace
The aim of the course is to introduce students to Russia's history from a political, cultural and religious perspective. Students will learn about the formation of Kyiv´s Russia, the Moscow State, the rise and problems of the Russian Empire.
Key themes of the lectures will be the cultural and religious contexts of Russia's history through significant works of art, architecture and iconography. Students will become acquainted with the State of Moscow´s attempt (in its vision of a "Third Rome") to carry on the Byzantine heritage in its national cultural link.
