Annotation
This course presents the documents of the last two ecumenical councils and points out their meaning for the contemporary theology. After a brief presentation of history of the First Vatican council students will learn about the contents of both its constitutions.
The major texts of the Second Vatican council will be presented afterwards: the constitutions Sacrosanctum Concilium, Gaudium et Spes, Dei Verbum and Lumen Gentium. Their contents will be analysed as well as the methods used by the council fathers to interpret the traditional teaching in a way that would make it accessible to modern human beings.
