The literary review (formally as the subject Literature and Methodological Review (MB160S86D)), which students submit no later than the end of the second year of their doctoral studies, should be approximately 20 to 30 pages. It is focused on the topic of the dissertation (Ph.D.) project, while the main weight should be placed on the theories, concepts, methodological procedures, and approaches on which the dissertation is based.
In addition to a summary of the current state of knowledge, the literature review must also contain the main objectives of the dissertation, including the relevant methodology. The objectives and methods should be sufficiently justified (in the context of current knowledge).
Therefore, the literary review aims to present the thematic focus, the research problem, and the main objectives of the dissertation project and should discuss various methodological approaches. This literary research is the main resource material for the ‘Theoretical-methodological Discussion’ during the State Doctoral Examination.
