Introduction to fluid motions
Qualitative flow visualization techniques, e.g., those that employ rheoscopic fluids
Quantitative flow visualization techniques, such as particle image velocimetry and particle tracking velocimetry (in both techniques small particles are suspended in the fluid and employed to trace its motion); corresponding particle dynamics
Introduction to quantum flows, with special emphasis given to quantized vortex dynamics and thermal counterflow
Cryogenic flow visualization techniques, especially those that employ micrometer-sized solid hydrogen particles and metastable helium molecules
Flow visualization is a very valuable experimental tool in fluid mechanics research. The corresponding techniques are introduced and special emphasis is given to the analysis of quantum flows.
The course is suitable for students familiar with fluid mechanics, e.g., those who attended NFPL174, Základy mechaniky tekutin a turbulence.
