Introduction to nonlinear behaviour of materials, especially metals. Fundamental concepts such as the static limit state analysis, shakedown and low-cycle fatigue under cyclic loadings are explained.
This is followed by the development of incremental models with two types of hardening, isotropic and kinematic, subject to the history dependent response to nonproportional complex loadings paths. Numerical implementation within the finite element method, stability issues and finite element locking phenomena are discussed.
The purpose of the course is to lay out the fundamentals of plasticity of materials.
