The aim of the course is to provide students with a general knowledge of regional history of Czech lands in the European context in the field of political, economic and cultural history. The course puts emphasis on understanding the process of history in context and relation with other science disciplines. Lectures consist not only of discussions concerning ?classical history?, but also architecture, the history of art, the history of administration, the period perception of the world, philosophy, and basic information about auxiliary historical sciences (e.g. palaeography, diplomatics, genealogy, heraldry, sphragistics).
Special attention is paid to the institutions engaged in the maintenance of cultural heritage, such as museums, archives and conservatories. Both lectures and seminars are aimed at acquirement of the ability to competently define investigated problems, and subsequently present and utilize obtained information in teaching.
