* LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM - History and development of Linux - File system, file management, working with files and directories - Basic commands, shells - Basics of writing and using scripts * INSTALLATION of SYSTEM AND CORE CONFIGURATION - The core of Linux operating system - Configuring the kernel loader - LILO * BASIC SYSTEM CONFIGURATION - Configuring basic services of system - Network configuration - Configuring other services * USER ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT AND FOUNDATIONS of SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION - System users and groups - Creation and cancellation of user accounts and groups, properties of accounts - System logs, access to them and their interpretation * SECURITY - Guiding principles of safety from the perspective of system administrator - Safe and unsafe services - Linux as a firewall

Annotation

Task of subject "Administration of Operating systems" is primarily to acquaint students with the basic principles of administration of Unix-like operating systems, the selected services and basic technical building blocks of these systems. The aim of this course is to induce the theoretical knowledge and especially practical skills needed for routine administration of this type of operating system in the school practice.
