Annotation

The course is an introduction to the theory of teaching, introduces the basic terminology, orientation in the curricular context and a framework for thinking in the field didactics. It leads students to a professional description of learning situations and to an understanding of teaching methods. It creates prerequisites for follow-up didactic subjects, which will focus on the analysis of strategic teaching models and on the planning and evaluation of teaching. Aim: Students are familiar with the structure of national and school curriculum at the second stage of primary and secondary schools. They use appropriately the basic didactic terminology for describing the learning situation. They explain the way and conditions of implementation of selected teaching strategies and professional reasons for their use.

1. Definition of didactics, basic terminology and methods of research, literature and other sources of information.

2. Learning and cognition styles, their importance for teachers and pupils.

3. Attention and memory. Consequences for the structure and phases of the lesson.

4. Evidence-based teaching, effective teaching strategies. Traditional didactic principles.

5. Motivating pupils in teaching, praise and criticism, providing an environment for learning.

6. Classification of organizational forms of teaching. Teaching methods.

7. Communication in teaching, techniques of dialogue teaching. Interpretation.

8. Management of independent work of pupils. Cooperative teaching and its implementation, group composition, group communication.

9. Evaluation of pupils' learning outcomes. Continuous feedback, formative evaluation.

10. Material and non-material didactic means, ICT in education. Graphical representations of the curriculum.
