The course introduces the basic concepts of social pedagogy and social work in a historical context and in the present. It presents the philosophical and religious basis of social work, the historical development of the field in the world and in our country, analyzes the relationships between social policy, social work and social pedagogy. It deals with important current paradigms and theories of social work (humanistic, existential, systemic, cognitive-behavioral, antiopressive, sociobiology approach). Methods and techniques of social pedagogy and social work are analyzed in detail (prevention of social failure, provision of counseling, social activation, streetwork, crisis intervention, groupwork, case management, work with family, community work, volunteer work, supervision in social work, evaluation of social effectiveness). programs). Aims of the course: The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic concepts of social pedagogy and social work, both in the historical context and in the present. Content definition:

1. Social work and social pedagogy - the development of the relationship between these disciplines, the role of a social worker and a social pedagogue.

2. Typology of clients. Communication with the client, problems solving in case work. Strategies and procedures

3. Counseling - social counseling, help and counseling, educational activities.

5. Specifics of forensic social work and school social work.

6. Working with a group - group psychotherapy, self-help and support groups.

7. Work with children and family - family as a support institution, identification of vulnerable families, types of services provided to families.

8. Crisis intervention.

10. Specifics of help, social work with selected target groups and work with them.
