Syllabus

* Theory:

* Introduction into VCAE, visual literacy and PCK. Qualitative research in Art Education: Schön´s reflective teacher and practitioner, teacher´s reflective competencies. Principles of modelling teaching situation and its interpretive strategies. Case studies.

* Practice: Developing and testing of a teaching model, using learned skills of qualitative research in a team, presentation of a portfolio and written reflection.

Annotation

Contemporary culture viewed as a specific socio-cultural field. Art education education in the context of contemporary pedagogical theories including theory of art education. Notion of discursive layers influencing understanding of artworks.

Meaning making: meaning of visual sign in the contexts of culture, history of art, society and gender. Image as a text, its cultural coding, visual/pictorial discourse and cultural institutions.
