Annotation
The course develops students' research competence. It focuses on a deeper understanding of how pedagogical research can contribute to solving practical problems - it will present examples of realistic research illustrating the breadth of methodological approaches and the richness of the research instrument. We will work on the following topics:
1. Relation of theory and practice. Science Literacy and Teachers’ Research Competence. A scientific approach to understanding reality. Action research as a means of developing teachers’ professionalism.
2. Topics of pedagogical research in the Czech Republic.
3. Theoretical basis for research - availability and search for resources.
4. Setting up a research, formulation of the research problem, determination of research questions, and selection of research design.
5. The phase of research, field entry.
6. A child as a specific respondent. Ethics of research.
7. Research methods and techniques, their possibilities and limitations (validity, reliability, the influence of the researcher's subjectivity).
8. Data processing and interpretation. Basic statistical functions.
9. Sharing research results, presentation/publication of research reports (pedagogical journals, conferences).
