Annotation

Because of changing social context, civilizational and cultural factors, new approaches to concepts and quality of education are needed. New expectations are formed towards the school, its roles and functions, goals, contents and strategies of education, as well as towards the work of key persons involved in school education.

These changes made new approaches to classification necessary. Qualitative, formative, individual, diagnostic, feedback impendent classification and positive approach to student mistakes is preferred.

This course will reflect all the above-mentioned changes. The course will provide students with knowledge in recent international and local trends in student classification and, show the main ways of school classification development in comparative context, especially in the area of formative classification and possibilities of its usage for improving the quality of their education.

Particular suggestions will be added to theoretical framework to show how to transfer these new ideas into everyday practice. Connecting theory and practice with help of examples learned by research at Czech schools should inspire students’ interest in their teaching profession and improve quality of their teaching.
