Syllabus

1. Special pedagogy in the structure of pedagogical sciences.

2. Internal structure of special pedagogy, overview of subdisciplines and interdisciplinary connections between them.

3. Complex characteristics of persons with various levels of disability and identification of their education needs.

4. Integration issue and integration forms in the context of the Czech education system and social services.

5. Paradigmatic shift from segregation to inclusion and its impacts in the theory and practice of social pedagogy.

6. Practical issues of education of a disabled child at a common school.

Annotation

The subject aims to develop knowledge in the area of social pedagogy. The subject provides psychosocial and pedagogical characteristics of children with various levels of disability.

It points out the specific needs of a family taking care of a disabled child as well as the possibilities of dealing with the situation. It clarifies the issue of comprehensive care and integration of disabled children, the ecosystem relationship child - family - school.

It also includes identification of special education needs in the Czech Republic and abroad, choice of the path of education, requirement for the individualization and differentiation of goals and methodologies in education, an overview of schools and facilities intended for the education of individuals with special education needs in the Czech Republic.
