Annotation

The aim of the course is to introduce the issue of standard standard pronunciation of the German language. In the lectures, students get acquainted with the theoretical foundations of the disciplines of phonetics and phonology.

In the seminars, they systematically practice standard pronunciation and phonetic transcription. The content of the course consists of the following topics: Definition of phonetics and phonology.

Basic terminology. The relationship between spoken and written forms of language.

Division of phonetics. The position of phonetics in the system of other sciences.

Pronunciation standard and its codification. Phonetic transcription.

Respiration, phonation, articulation. Communication process (perception and speech production).

Comparison of the phonological system of Czech and German. The seminar begins with an introductory recording of an unknown text.
