The course is focused on quantitative research designs in psychology and on various methodological approaches. The greatest attention is paid to statistical methods of data analysis.
Basic terms used in the course: statistics descriptive and inductive, population and sample, variables and their types, sample size. Errors in data and how to avoid them.
Frequency table. Graphical representations.
Basic statistical characteristics: Mean, variance, skewness, kurtosis. Normal distribution.
Statistical induction, estimation theory. Hypothesis testing: Zero and alternative hypothesis, error of the 1st and 2nd kind, significance level.
Correlation test. T-test.
Chi-square test.
