Students will gain an informative overview of literature for children's choirs in order to understand the different needs and repertoire choices depending on the type of choir they will be working with. During the semester, they will receive background information on specific composers and significant works, primarily from 20th century and contemporary Czech music, but also from historical periods of Czech and world music.
An important part of the course will be an introduction to key children's ensembles and choral personalities, a live experience of a children's choir concert performance, and a basic orientation to sources of notated material.
