The aim of the subject is to further develop the theory base of language teaching, i.e. knowledge of the system of fundamental didactic findings. Based on the knowledge in the area of formulating aims, communication competence, planning, etc. students will be introduced to the principles of developing language skills both in theory and practice.

Recording from classroom teaching and their reflection will promote students development of observation skills, i.e. seeing particular aspects of teaching and learning, problematic situations, examples of good practice, and also to be able to ask questions, critically analyse and evaluate experience of their own and of others. Students’ micro teaching and their evaluation and self-evaluation will develop the skill of formulating aims, lesson planning, teaching and evaluating.

For the purpose of observation, students will be developing and piloting their own observations sheets focusing on analysis of particular aspects of teaching language skills.
