The aim of the course is to develop students’ knowledge base in the field of teaching, i.e. the system of basic didactic findings and the skill of processing new information related to the content and processes of teaching and learning. Based on the gained knowledge in the area of setting lesson aims, communicative competence, lesson planning, etc., the course will familiarize students with the principles of teaching language skills both in theory and practice.

Watching recordings of real lessons and their reflection will develop students‘ skill of observing and noticing specific aspects of teaching, it will encourage and support students' discussion and critical analysis, and evaluate the experience of theirs and others. Students’ micro-teaching sessions, including their evaluation and self-evaluation, will support their development in aim setting, planning, realizing and evaluating their own teaching and that of others.

For developing observations skills the students will create observation sheets with a focus on analysis of particular aspects of teaching language skills. In tight interconnection with the course “Teaching practice I.” the students will create a portfolio of effective activities and will be able to integrate individual language skills in their lesson plans.
