Annotation

The goal of this course is to familiarize the students with the complicated and often chaotic development of modern literature in German speaking territories with the onset of post-modernism in the last decades of the 20th century. The course further explains the basic concepts of contemporary literature (modernism, post-modernism) and attempts to characterize them with respect to the historical and philosophical development of contemporary Europe. The lecture gives evidence of its theses from the works German modern authors the most current German, Austrian, and Swiss post-modern authors.

The course has been taught in German.
