Gallery and Museum Education

Annotation

The course combines approaches to subject didactics modified for gallery education with an art-historical view of fine arts. It aims at an open understanding of the multiple functions of the image or artifact in contemporary culture and its thematization in a didactic project, supported by conceptual analysis and links to the requirements of the Framework Educational Programs in Art and Culture and in the development of visual literacy. The output of the course is the creation of a group design of an educational project, enabling the mediation of a work of art to an audience of different ages and interests. Individual elements of the project are scenarios of educational activities and editing of educational materials.

1) Introductory meeting; establishment, management and use of portfolios; introduction to didactic and artistic terminology and methods of work; links to FEP, area Art and culture, characteristics of the area.

2) Visits to galleries and museum exhibitions; art historical contexts; introduction to the methodology of art comparison

3) Analysis of implemented educational programs and materials; mapping of cultural content structures;

4) Preparation and evaluation of own educational programs for selected exhibitions Collaborating with expert educators at NG Prague, U(P)M in Prague, Kunsthalle, GHMP, Gallery of Central Bohemia
