Syllabus

Lectures:

1. Effect of various types of physical load on the human organism.

2. Energy expenditure and the types of energy systems.

3. Morphological and functional predispositions for various types of sports.

4. Exercise tests, selection of ergometers and exercise protocols, use in the sports practice.

5. Exercise diagnostics in the handicapped populations.

6. Selected sports and sports activities - demands of the events

7. Biochemical monitoring of athletes, parameters and criteria and evaluation. Practical exercises:

1. Energy expenditure - methods of estimation.

2. Aerobic exercise tests (treadmill, arm ergometry)

3. Anaerobic exercise tests (Wingate test for lower and upper limbs, F-v test, Bosco test)

4. Modification of the exercise tests in athletes with handicap.

5. Complementary examination and techniques (dynamometry, spirometry, Holter techniques).

6. The use of the results of exercise test in the sports preparation.

7. Closing seminary lesson. Requirements for the credit: - Active participation in the lectures and practical lessons. - Seminary essay

Annotation

Students are informed about the effect of physical load and various physical activities, including sports activities on the human organism, they gain knowledge on the principles of evaluation the functional and energy demands of sports performances, on the methods of functional exercise diagnostics in the laboratory and in the field and the use of the evidence of exercise physiology and biochemistry in the sports practice, with regards to the aspects of various sports and various population groups involved in physical activity.
