Předmět umožní pochopit v souvislostech, proč dochází ke zvyšování výkonnosti, co má trénink obsahovat a jak postupovat, tj. teoreticky ovládnout hlavní problémy tréninku v podobě zákonitostí, principů, metod, doporučení apod. Věnuje se struktuře výkonu, zatěžování, složkám tréninku (kondiční, technická, taktická a psychologická příprava), dlouhodobé koncepci, stavbě a řízení tréninku.
