2. Respiratory problems, airway obstruction. Respiratory arrest.
3. Heart and circulatory problems. Cardiac arrest. Unconsciousness.
4. External and internal bleeding. Shock.
5. Thermal injuries. Burns. Heat illness. Electrical and chemical injuries. Cold exposure. Frostbite.
6. Chest and abdominal injuries. Pneumothorax.
7. Head and spinal injuries. Injuries of the locomotor system. Practical lessons:
1. Principles of adult basic life support. Treatment of acute airway obstruction.
2. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
3. CPR. Stopping the bleeding. Shock treatment.
4. Bandaging techniques I.
5. Bandaging techniques II.
6. Infant and child basic life support.
7. Practical exam.
The obligatory courses give the students the basic introduction to the meaning, the types and the role of First Aid in the health care system. In practical lessons the students learn the principles of first aid in life-threatening emergencies and the main principles of fixation, immobilization and bandaging.
