A practical seminar lasting one semester, each session lasting two hours. A “workshop” involving specialist work with selected biblical texts and biblical-theological themes, with the emphasis on advanced methodology and individual and team work by the students. The theme of the seminar and the specific texts to be studied each year are chosen to tie in with the current or recently completed projects of the teachers. The specific theme is expressed in the subtitle of the course for the given academic year.
In the seminar, students regularly work on selected biblical passages in the original languages, present the results of their analyses and findings from searches in secondary literature, and present their own critical exposition of the texts and their ideas for present-day interpretation in specified contexts.
Students are expected to make use of the knowledge and skills acquired during their previous study of the Old
Testament. For each lesson they are expected to have prepared in advance the texts to be covered, to have studied the recommended literature, to have examined analyses and interpretations, and also in some cases to have elaborated their own suggestions for interpreting the texts that are covered.
Passing the course is conditional on the acceptance of an exegetical or biblical-theological paper on an assigned topic written by the student (10-12 pages).
