Practical Theology Seminar - Homiletics

Class at Protestant Theological Faculty |
RETA6021

Annotation

The seminar provides an opportunity for students to work with a biblical text with the help of all theological disciplines in order to write a sermon proclaiming its message in today's pluralist world. Students elaborate the homiletical exegesis on a given biblical text, the sermon and the whole liturgy. They present their work in the seminar and receive the critical reflection of the whole group. Volunteers can use it for the worship service in the faculty chapel. The aim of the course is to strengthen the exegetical, homiletical and liturgical competencies and preaching skills of the students. The work in seminar consists of three (or four) steps:

1. The introduction into the current situation of preaching in the pluralistic society; the introduction into the homiletical exegesis.

2. The elaboration of the homiletical exegesis on a given biblical text and its presentation in the seminar.

3. The elaboration of the sermon including the whole liturgy and its presentation in the seminar.

4. (The worship service in the faculty chapel.)
