Annotation

The lecture serves also as “repetitorium” which should help the students to prepare for the examination in philosophy. The aim of the lecture is to introduce the students to the crucial problems of the ancient philosophy and ancient Christianity. The lecture focuses mainly on the philosophical problems that are important for the development of early Christian theology (Origen and Augustine). As it is expected that the students are able to get knowledge of the general overview of the history of the ancient philosophy and early Christianity from the introductory books, the lecture focuses of the more difficult questions and should lead the students to the individual lecture of the philosophical texts. Structure of the subject:

3) Origen

4) Augustine

5) Christianity and Platonism

6) Plato

7) Stoicism

8) Philo of Alexandria

9) John the Evangelist
