The course focuses on the relationship of archaeology to the Bible, specifically here to the Old Testament. After introducing the basics of the discipline, it progresses through the different periods of research in Israel, charting the interpretive crossroads that archaeologists, historians, and biblical scholars separately (but also together) must grapple with. The course consists of ten parts in each of which students do study the chosen texts and work independently on assigned tasks.
