Old Testament theology is a kind of royal discipline within the study of the Old Testament. Its essence is to grasp systematically the nature of Old Testament substances in their diversity.
The origins of the discipline date back to the late 18th century. Prominent figures of the 20th century include Gerhard von Rad, Walter Eichrodt, Brevard S.
Childs, and others. Also in the 21st century, a number of Old Testament theologies have been written.
The course will focus on these after outlining briefly the history and methodological crossroads of the previous centuries.
