Annotation
This course will look at films about the afterlife and what filmmakers portray as happening after death. Is it an encounter with good / God (heaven) or something darker (hell or what Roman Catholics call purgatory)? Using films from different periods over the past seventy years, the course will ask what these portrayals say about people's hopes and fears of what awaits us after death and how that can be equated with Christian theological teaching on the subject.
