The course is taught in Czech language only.
The course introduces students to the following theories / approaches used in social work:
Theoretical background of social work, meaning, context, history and present, current topics
Participatory theory, empowerment, social capital
Psychodynamic theories and their legacy for social work
Cognitive behavioral theory and applications in social work
Humanistic and existential theories and their importance in social work (client-centered approach, logotherapy)
Systemic approach in social work
Socio-ecological approach, importance and application in social work.
Psychosocial approach in social work
Task-oriented approach
Anti-oppressive approaches, (pedagogy of liberation, theology of liberation)
Critical/reform social work
The course ends with an exam and a presentation of the assigned student work.
