Contemporary History: An Interdisciplinary Perspective (Czech and World History, 1945 - present)

Class at Faculty of Humanities |
YMO105

Syllabus

Examination

The exam is realized in oral form by presence of student and of an academic jury. Each student has to submit a list of at least ten already read academic monographs, selected freely but the individual choice should respect a balance among the titles. Three titles should be selected from each period (1945 - 1968, 1968 - 1989, 1989 - present) -> 3+3+3) and one should be a general monograph (synthesis) covering all periods since 1945. It is strongly recommended to consult a final choice of books with lecturers of Contemporary History: An Interdisciplinary Perspective I, II and III.

During the exam a jury will make a choice of three issues (one from each period, based on the list of readings) and the student will be given fifteen minutes to prepare. About 30 minutes long discussion then begins between among the student and members of jury.
