Intrauterine fetal development. Stages of intrauterine fetal development, pregnancy duration, determination of gestational age. Placenta - the morphology, location, function. Fetal membranes, amniotic fluid. Obstetrics analgesia and anesthesia. (Gregor)
Normal fetal lie, presentation, attitude, position. Fetal malposition and malpresentation - breech presentation, transverse, oblique and unstable lie. Obstetrics examination before and during labour - external and internal obstetric examination, external examination of the pelvis. Assisted vaginal delivery (vacuum extraction, forceps) - indications, requirements, technique, complications, hands-on training. Breech presentation and multiple pregnancy - management of labour, phantom training.
Assessment of fetal well-being. Cardiotocography - theory, presentation and analysis of particular cases. ST waveform analysis. Fetal pulse oximetry.
Normal labour - stages of labour, mechanism and management, hands-on training, phantom training, DVD.
Caesarean section - indications, technique, DVD. Female sterilisation.
Antepartum and postpartum haemorrhage. Case report.
