The introductory block of lectures provides definitions of relevant concepts: diplomacy - diplomatic relations - diplomatic law - international law - international policy - foreign policy. Further, a historical background of diplomacy is outlined, highlighting the key stages and key regions, as well as the progressive emergence and stabilisation of the rules and doctrines of diplomatic law - a branch of international law with the most comprehensive codification.

The following block deals with certain specific theoretical issues of diplomatic law - the sources of diplomatic law, the privileges and immunities, the theories surrounding the granting of privileges and immunities, diplomatic asylum, etc. The following block will allow students to study in detail (with commentaries and examples) specific normative documents, primarily the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, the Convention on Special Missions, and the Vienna Convention on the Representation of States in their Relations with International Organizations of a Universal Character.

The diplomatic protocol block focuses on protocolar workplaces and their competences, protocolar order, diplomatic corps, typical protocolar events (celebrations of national holidays, inaugurations, condolences, state funerals, laying of wreaths, protocolar arrangements during state visits, the diplomatic mission (commencement, functioning, end), use of flags and diplomatic correspondence.

The social etiquette block deals with the code of behaviour, attending/organising social events, dining and dress codes.
